500 years later, the sun still shines brightly, the native people are friendly and the landscape continues to astonish the ones who cross the paths of Bahia. The Route of Discovery goes from Arraial d’Ajuda to Prado. It can be considered the same paradise as the one found by Pedro Alvares Cabral and his crew when they first landed in Brazil in April 22, 1500. Despite the villages and the human occupation since then, Bahia still has many untouched spots with crystal clear water and diversified fauna and flora. We can find over 450 different species of flora in the Atlantic Forest. We can also spot over 400 different species of bird there. This is the reason the first Portuguese people who landed there thought they have reached paradise. The area was considered World Natural Heritage, i.e. it is a region, which should be preserved indefinitely. Beside the already existing National park called Monte Pascoal, two new National parks were created recently: Pau-Brasil (in Porto Seguro) and Descobrimento (in Prado). And this is the region chosen by Sampabikers to ride our bikes across this wonderful landscape. During the whole program, we need to be alert to the sea level. We shall ask local fishermen before leaving each morning. During low tide the ride is easier on the wet sand. Also it is good to have empty tyres to ride on the sand.

Pedalear sobre la arena que va cambiando de color: blanca, dorada y negra por los minerales que se desprenden del imponente acantilado, refrescarse en el mar, cruzar ríos, caminar por la selva y navegar por el río entre la mata atlántica…
Pecnotar en Bellas posadas en aldeas donde perdura intacta la arquitectura original Portuguesa y comer extravagantes pero exquisitos platos…
Impecable la atención de Paulinhio y la asistencia de Mariano…!
El grupo muy alegre, trataba en todo momento de incluirnos a pesar de la limitación del idioma…
Nos trajimos un hermoso recuerdo, muchas anécdotas divertidas y nuevos amigos…!

Paulinho que nos hizo sentir todo el tiempo muy como en casa, Jose que fue el encargado de traducirnos todo lo que le preguntabamos cuando qieriamos entender algo… su bella y compañera de vida Sonia…. la bellas y divertidas Sandra, Vivian, Elenice, Valeria , y como les decian las Mininas…los Casados Vanessa y Didi!!!?
Una experiencia hermosa… como ya escribio Marisa rodeada de bellos paisajes e increibles lugares que nos fueros sorprendiendo en el transcurso del viaje!!!!

Realmente tal como me lo imaginaba. Bellos y variados paisajes, que cambian según el día soleado o con la lluvia tropical que también se disfruta. Comidas autóctonas, frutas y jugos, todo tan gustoso y sano. Las posadas frente al mar, una gloria! Los vendedores ambulantes suempre tan pintorescos. Degustar, renovarse e idratarse a todo momento con el agua de coco, fue super agradable.
El grupo brasileño que me tocó compartir fué extraordinariamente amable y divertido.
Celebro haber integrado ésta travesía tan bella.

¡El viaje mas “bacana” de Brasil! Naturaleza exuberante, playas infinitas y todo el mar para disfrutar a pleno. Altamente recomendable.
Un viaje súper disfrutable, de paisajes hermosos, lugares únicos y un grupo genial!
Supero mis expectativas ! Conozco Brasil y sus playas , pero esta experiencia fue fantástica para quienes tenemos pasión x la bici . Desde Prado hasta Arraial D’Ajuda conocimos playas enormes y desoladas , con unos acantilados color rojizo , la vegetación típica siempre acompañándonos en el recorrido . El estado de Bahía y sus playas es muy acogedor , gente muy amorosa y gentil . Estuvimos en posadas confortables y siempre cerca del mar , Paulinho el organizador , muy divertido , responsable , cuidándonos siempre y mostrándonos lo mejor del recorrido . Comimos espectacular ! Y el grupo que nos tocó muy especial , nosotros Emilio y yo únicos argentinos , nos adaptamos perfecto pero ellos intentaron siempre incorporarnos a las conversaciones en portugués
Súper recomendable ! La próxima que haremos es la Rota dos Coqueiros , otra parte de Bahia , seguro será imperdible como esta
